This is a brand-new Japanese haori (kimono jacket) made from Oshima Tsumugi silk, one of the most respected silk textiles in Japan.

The interior features a powerful hand-painted tiger motif, traditionally associated with strength, protection, and quiet authority.
Hidden inside the garment, the painting reveals itself only when worn or opened — a distinctive aesthetic of Japanese dress culture, where meaning often lies beneath the surface.

The interior artwork is created using a traditional Japanese silk floss thread known for its soft texture and subtle depth, lending the painting a restrained and organic richness.

Oshima Tsumugi is traditionally woven using yarn dyed in advance (sakizome) with natural dyes, rather than being dyed after weaving.
These dyes are derived from local plants such as Techi wood and mineral-rich mud containing iron deposits, formed over centuries — including iron believed to originate from ancient meteorite fragments found in the region.

The silk threads are repeatedly immersed and oxidized in iron-rich mud, a process that strengthens the fiber while producing Oshima Tsumugi’s distinctive depth of color and durability.
This method is extraordinarily time-consuming and physically demanding, requiring immense skill, patience, and judgment at every stage.

Renowned for its lightness, resilience, and refined texture, Oshima Tsumugi was originally worn by samurai and later by cultural elites, becoming a symbol of quiet luxury shaped by nature and human discipline.

This piece can be worn as a jacket, styled over modern clothing, or appreciated as a collectible textile artwork.
